Chapter Five: Notice of Convenience

‘Nobodies’ aren’t talentless, we do have our skills and abilities, it’s just we aren’t recognized as much as the others. We do have our advantages and potential. There are also some instances where ‘nobodies’ are recognized not for themselves, but for convenience. It hurts us to be recognized only during the times we are required to exist; the only feeling we do think of during those times was ‘we are being used’.

For us, it is flattering to be recognized due to our potential, but as human beings, getting an approach to be used for their own advantage is a bit too much. Getting acquainted because you possess some skill that they could use to their advantage is making you feel objectified. We also have feelings and we can sense the genuineness of their interest. During these instances, we feel taken for granted. It is not egoistical if we say that right after those events, we don’t see the reciprocity of the interest they gave us during the time that they needed us to do something with them. When people interact with us just to get what they want, but when it’s our turn we get dismissed and we were shown not a bit nor a portion of the same willingness we gave to them. It's very detrimental not only to our self-worth but also to our self-esteem as to we are objectified by those people to achieve what they want; making us have some more trust issues built up over time. We end up thinking that once our purpose is fulfilled, we are done for good, not up until they need us once more.

We feel that we are not acknowledged for who we are but we are only recognized because it is for their own convenience. It makes us feel much less wanted and unimportant unless the instance required us to exist once more.
